Indo Western

From the time when I was a kid, everything about Rajasthan attracted me. From the music, the royal palaces, to of course, the fashion. In this look I wanted to give my usual Western look a Desi kick. And to be more specific, the Desi part is inspired by Rajasthani style. Fusion looks or “Indo Western” looks are becoming increasingly popular in the South Asia now. From “Patiali Salwars” with sneakers to turbans with maxi dresses, this look can be experimented with in a number of ways.

Girl Next Door

Unlike most of my looks, I decided to keep this one really simple and very feminine. I sort of went for a very “girl next door” look. Although the dress is really cute, it still needed that “oomph”. This is a really good example of how accessories do the trick and make an outfit look effortless. You can pick any outfit up and avoid looking plain Jane with the right pair of heels and layered necklaces. And of course, a little red lipstick does no harm! 😉

Fall Must-Haves

Fall Favorites

Fall is here and winter is just waiting on the next lap… almost. Actually, with the extreme heat that we’re suffering from, I’m quite unsure when winter is going to say “hello” to us. Yes, it’s still scorching hot in Bangladesh and it is not exactly the “Pumpkin Spice Latte”, “fallen leaves” or “trench coats” kind of scene here. Although I can’t wait for winter, that doesn’t mean I’m not making the most out of the fall season. So here are my beauty & fashion favorites/must-haves for the season:

Beauty Must-Haves

We know fall is all about dark lip colors & that is why these are my go-to lip products right now. On the bottom right we have the Sleek (Matte Me) liquid lipstick with a matte finish in the shade Fandango Purple. I have gotten loads of compliment on this! It stays on for a long time & most importantly it’s not patchy like most liquid lipsticks out there. Then on the bottom left we have the Golden Rose Ultra Rich Color Lipstick in shade number 50. If you love red lipsticks, this shade is for you. Because it is a darker, “brown-ish” red that is very fall-friendly. The only downside of this one is that it’s not a matte lipstick. Finally on the top we have a Max Touch BB cream that I use almost every day. For me it does provide enough coverage and a few pumps go a long way for the whole face. It is of course, a lot cheaper than a most BB creams out there but it still does work well on my skin.

On to the fashion favorites! Most of us have already started shopping for winter clothes. These two things, the camo scarf & the denim shirt can perform double duty and will come in handy in both fall and winter. When we head out, we often wear a thick scarf to protect ourselves from the sunlight. Most of the times we just throw on whatever we have near us so why not wear something that is more fashionable? Plus, the scarf can be used around the neck in the winter too. Then we have the denim shirt. I think every woman should have at least one denim shirt in their wardrobe. In fall, you can tie it around the waist, wear it alone & in winter you can layer it on or under.

Tomboy Chic

Growing up, believe it or not, I’ve always been a tomboy. The only makeup I used to wear was smudged eyeliner & combing hair was out of the question (umm, well, I still do that because I like the look of messy hair)! I didn’t understand or care much about fashion until I discovered how amazing it is and that fashion itself is an art that one can wear. But even now I still can’t say that all I wear are dresses & high heels. In fact, laid back looks are still my go to looks but now I try to put them together to look more effortlessly fashionable with a touch of femininity. Yes, you can be comfortable & look chic at the same time. The secret is to add an additional layer (a light-weight outwear if it’s too hot or maybe just tie it around the waist!), a bold accessory, bright lips and if you’re feeling it, a hat, to your regular t-shirt and jeans outfit.

So, this is my first post! For my first look, I decided to go for a 70’s inspired look. I know, right now all the fashion rage is about the 90’s era but we have to admit that we always somehow still see the 70’s peeking through. From ponchos, to flared jeans… I love everything about the 70’s fashion scene (well, except for the fringed jackets maybe). And of course, I decided to add little modern touches to my outfit too.
